Our Acting Chief Executive Officer
Kaarina Phyland is our Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
As the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the City of Greater Geelong Kaarina is committed to enacting transformational change that enables the City to work together for a thriving Greater Geelong community. A Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Kaarina has previously served as Director of Strategy People and Performance and has been with the City since 2019. Through this time Kaarina has been a passionate champion for the City’s culture and worked to make the organisation more sustainable integrated and collaborative. Kaarina has a Bachelors Degree in Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance and experience across the mining agribusiness manufacturing government administration transportation/rail financial and professional services tertiary education and airline sectors. While Kaarina grew up surrounded by sugarcane fields in Far North Queensland she now calls Geelong home. It’s an exciting time for our region and Kaarina is honoured to contribute to Greater Geelong’s clever and creative future.

Council has appointed Kaarina Phyland as the City of Greater Geelong’s Acting Chief Executive Officer until the commencement of a new CEO.
