Apply for a pet registration refund
If your pet passes away before the start of January, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund.

Our refund date periods are:

  • Full refund: 10 April - 30 September
  • Half refund: 1 October - 31 December
  • No refund: 1 January - 9 April

Applications must be submitted before 1 February to be eligible.

You can also use this form if you have overpaid your registration fees and require a refund.

Refunds are made via direct credit to your bank account.

The processing of your refund can take up to 28 days.

Apply for a pet registration refund

You will not be eligible for a refund if you are moving away from the city unless your pet has passed away.

You can transfer your pet’s registration to your new council for the remaining period of your current registration.

    Register your pets
    To help keep your pets safe, you must register your cat or dog with us before they are 3 months old, and renew this registration by 10 April every year.
