Following is a list of resources, information and support we've collated to assist individuals and families who are doing it tough due to the impacts of COVID-19 and the associated restrictions.
Our financial hardship policy
Ratepayers who are facing extreme financial or personal hardship can apply to waive penalty interest and legal costs defer part of their rates or arrange a payment plan for outstanding payments excluding fines.

Self-isolating/ quarantine one-off payments
Information is available on the DH Coronavirus website on how to access self-isolating / quarantine one-off worker support payments. Note key eligibility criteria include work rights and lost income.

Extreme Hardship Support Program
The Victorian Government provides emergency financial assistance to people who cannot access Commonwealth income support. It is available to people on temporary and provisional visas and undocumented migrants or who have zero or very limited savings income or community support. International students are eligible apply even if they have previously received assistance through ISERF. Website information available in translated languages.

Homelessness services
If you are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness contact the 24-hour statewide crisis accommodation service on 1800 825 955.
Other agencies may also be able to provide advice and assistance include:
- SalvoConnect Barwon South West Region – offer a range of services including family violence and women-specific services.
- Barwon Child Youth and Family – offer homelessness support for young people.
- Towards Home+ Geelong – focused on supporting rough sleepers and those experiencing chronic homelessness.
Extra help and support available in quarantine
Barwon Adolescent Task Force has a quick help guide to support people during times of crisis.
The Victorian Government provides support for vulnerable Victorians needing to quarantine or isolate themselves due to COVID-19.
