Photographs from our region’s top photographers are represented in the 2022 City of Greater Geelong calendar which will be posted to 128 000 households this month.
The popular calendar features the winning images from the City’s annual photography competition which this year attracted more than 1300 entries. The 13 winning images were selected through an online public voting process.
An image of the much-loved historic Geelong Carousel by Tash Dear was voted the most popular among the 2221 votes and was selected for the cover of the calendar.
In a surprising twist and amidst some family rivalry Tash’s mother Danka Dear also has her photograph of the Floating Christmas Tree selected as the image for the month of December.
Amateur and professional photographers were invited to submit photos in the following four categories: nature events and people architecture and urban spaces and landscapes.
Calendars are scheduled to be delivered mid-December and additional copies will be available from January.
The calendar helps to foster community pride share important dates and information and recognise the talent of local photographers.

The free calendar is immensely popular with our residents and helps to highlight the beauty of our region and the vitality of our community – whether it’s our stunning coastline diverse community fabulous events or incredible wildlife.
We’ve been through a tough year so it’s heartening that so many talented people in our community captured images showing what they love about our region. They represent the resilience we have all demonstrated as we’ve grasped the moments of light and joy amongst so much sacrifice.

I’m sure lots of residents will want to put the calendar up in their home and send copies to friends and relatives as gifts.
We received over one thousand entries and we were thrilled with the outstanding photography on show.
Our calendars are hugely popular with the community and each year we get to see a familiar landmark from a perspective or angle which gives it an entirely new impact. I’m looking forward to receiving my calendar!
