The City of Greater Geelong is seeking community input on a long-term plan to make Pakington Street and Gordon Avenue in Geelong West more liveable and sustainable.
All members of the community are invited to have their say on the Pakington Street and Gordon Avenue Interim Final Urban Design Framework (UDF) before feedback closes on Friday 17 September.
The framework will be used to guide future growth and development including built form outcomes streetscape design traffic and pedestrian movements car parking and land use and assist in the assessment of future development proposals.
Community consultation on the Draft UDF was conducted over 24 weeks from March to August 2020. Following this consultation the UDF was refined to respond to key concerns around building heights amenity and traffic impacts. Parts of the final adopted UDF will be delivered through a separate planning scheme amendment process which will involve further community consultation.
The framework includes a recommendation to prepare a night-time economy strategy to boost jobs and businesses at night as well as more footpath and bike path upgrades to support walking and cycling.

The City is committed to preparing a parking plan for Pakington Street to manage car parking provision as the area develops. A Traffic Network Assessment is also currently underway to highlight additional road infrastructure upgrades that may be required.

Pakington Street has grown from a traditional shopping strip to a retail and cultural drawcard that attracts people from across our region and beyond.
We want to protect the village feel that makes Pako and Gordon Avenue unique while improving the vibrancy liveability and amenity of the area.
