May 26 is National Sorry Day marking the anniversary of the Bringing Them Home report in 1998 an inquiry into the past policies which caused Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to be removed from their families and communities.

Watch as Julie Saylor Briggs Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Policy Officer and Cr Jim Mason Chair of the Aboriginal Affairs Portfolio reflect the significance of this day in Greater Geelong’s history.

In Greater Geelong we acknowledge the Wadawurrung People as the Traditional Owners of the Land Waterways and Skies. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

We Acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are part of our Greater Geelong community today.
