Performers are filling Central Geelong’s streets with live music and entertainment each weekday as part of the Music in the City Series.

Greater Geelong Mayor Peter Murrihy:

The City of Greater Geelong is investing $100 000 in the program which provides performances in Central Geelong from midday to 2pm each weekday this year.

This is about much more than entertainment. Activating our streets helps people feel safe and welcome and has flow on effects for our economy and people’s sense of connection and wellbeing.

Harnessing the talent of our local performers provides another reason to enjoy the shopping dining and culture in Central Geelong.

Our Music in the City series offers home grown artists musicians and street performers the chance to make Little Malop Street their stage.

Arts Live Entertainment and Hospitality Chair Councillor Eddy Kontelj:

The program is creating work for local performers while encouraging people to come back to Central Geelong.

The talent in Greater Geelong is amazing and we’re so pleased to give local performers and bands a platform to share their music and entertainment.

Providing free entertainment brings a sense of joy connection and community for residents and visitors to Central Geelong.

There are plans to add to the program including the return of the much-loved Geelong’s Best Busker presented by Steve Thew on Saturday 17 December.

A key action of the Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan is to builds on the annual calendar of events and activities which attract more people and increased investment to Central Geelong.
