Section 191 Committee
Section 191 Committee meetings are run to a specific procedure.
The procedure for hearing items will be:
- Officer to present a brief summary of the written report to the committee
- The committee members may ask questions of the Council officer
- The applicant may speak to their application. Applicants may speak for 3 minutes.
- Any objectors may speak to their objection. Objectors may speak for 3 minutes. Objectors should not repeat what previous Objectors have stated but should only raise new issues.
- Applicants and ojectors should refer their comment to the Committee not to other parties in the room.
- Committee hearings are not a question and answer forum but are a chance for parties to explain their position/views to the committee.
- The committee may ask questions of the objectors or applicants at the end of their presentation.
- At the end of the presentations the committee will discuss the item may seek further clarification from parties and will make a decision.
- No decision will be made on the day.
- The committee will prepare a report with a recommendation which will be presented to Council for a decision.
