Moorpanyul – Moorpanyal Park – NAIDOC Week online trail
22 The Esplanade, North Shore

Moorapanyul means ‘place of the white crane’ in Wadawurrung language.

As the first stop on the Karndoor-Kapa Track which means ‘follow the Norlane Corio track’ in Wadawurrung language there is a plaque near the playground acknowledging Willem Baa Nip a prominent Aboriginal figure in Geelong and district.

The coastline from Moorpanyal Park to Limeburners Lagoon was a high-use area for the Wadawurrung people providing them with fish from their fish traps and shellfish from the rocky shores.

This is site 3 of the NAIDOC Week 2020 online trail.
