Developing and promoting active travel routes to school
Supporting and encouraging students, staff and families to use active travel assists schools to meet the Physical Activity and Safe Environment Benchmarks of the Achievement Program.

Active travel is all about using physical activity to get around. Walking cycling scooting and skating are obvious examples even using public transport can be ‘active’ if you choose to walk from the bus stop or train station to your destination.

Active travel routes with designated ‘pick up/drop off points’ are safe and accessible routes children and families can use to safely walk and ride along to get to and from school or their early childhood service.

Would your school like additional support to identify and promote active travel routes to school? Simply register to the Achievement Program.
