Local Organisations: Services and Programs

Barwon Adolescent Taskforce (BATForce)

The Barwon Adolescent Taskforce (BATForce) is an alliance of organisations in the G21 region with a stake in the provision of services with and for young people. These organisations focus on young people of all ages 10 to 25 and from all socio-economic cultural and geographical areas within the region.

Barwon Child Youth and Family

Barwon Child Youth and Family Services (BCYF) is a community organisation supporting children young people and their families in the Barwon South Western Region of Victoria to be safe connected and empowered to live well.

Barwon Health - Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services

Specialist mental health services are aimed primarily at people with serious mental illness or mental disorder who have associated significant levels of disturbance and psychosocial disability due to their illness or disorder. A variety of specialised services are available across the age range from children to those over 65 years of age. There is an emphasis on providing early intervention to young people and developing partnerships with other organisations to utilise a full range of services.

Drug and alcohol services are targeted to people with serious problems resulting from their use of alcohol or other drugs. Services are also available for those who have a concurrent drug and alcohol problem and a mental disorder.

Bellarine Community Health

Bellarine Community Health (BCH) is committed to undertaking high quality Health Promotion work. Their vision for health promotion is ‘Creating communities that enable optimal health for all’. BCH provide an information an referral service a needle syringe exchange program and other allied health services. 

Bethany Community Support

Bethany provide assistance for families who are struggling with many issues and situations including:

  • experiencing family violence
  • feeling isolated lonely or worried
  • seeing a family member struggle with drug or alcohol addiction
  • gambling issues
  • tenancy issues
  • needing help with parenting skills.

Cats in the Community

The Geelong Football Club can help to sustain the community that sustains it. Cats in the Community is the Community Development arm of the Geelong Football Club.

Headspace

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. Headspace can help young people with mental health physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services and work and study support.

Alateen

Alateen is a fellowship of young Al-Anon members usually teenagers whose lives have been affected by someone elses drinking.

Australian Drug & Alcohol Foundation

Australian Drug & Alcohol Foundation designs and delivers a range of community programs services and resources targeted at preventing alcohol and other drug-related harm.

Counselling Online

Counselling Online is a service where you can communicate with a professional counsellor about an alcohol or drug related concern using text-interaction.

DirectLine

DirectLine provides 24-hour 7-day confidential drug and alcohol counselling information and referral.

Family Drug Help (FDH)

FDH is a service designed specifically to address the support and information needs of parents other family members and significant others of someone with problematic alcohol or other drug use.

Good Sports

Good Sports provides free support to sporting clubs to change their culture and reduce high risk drinking.

Kids Helpline

Kids Helpline is a counselling service for Australian children and young people aged between 5 and 25 years.

Life Education – Pre School Program

Life Education provides an early childhood program focusing on the health and wellbeing of pre-school age children. Content focuses on seven main areas; the body personal hygiene safety exercise nutrition sleep and relationships.

Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection compassion and hope.

ReachOut

Australias leading online youth mental health service.

Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre

Provides leadership to the drug and alcohol field in Victoria. It provides resources and services to support drug and alcohol education in schools and communities.

Victoria Police

Victoria Police provides policing services to the Victorian community 24 hours a day.

YouthSupport and Advocacy Service (YSAS)

YSAS is a Statewide community service providing a continuum of services for young people aged between 12 and 21 who are experiencing problems related to alcohol and other drugs.
