Local Organisations: Services and Programs

Bellarine Community Health (BCH)

Occupational Therapy Services BCH is a multifaceted primary care service. Their catchment area spans two local government areas which include the Borough of Queenscliffe and eastern part of the City of Greater Geelong.

Bethany Community Support

A call to Bethany Community Support gives you access to family services support in Geelong Surf Coast and Queenscliff. A range of services are available including family counselling support and advice with parenting and managing children’s behaviour group work mediation and case management for families with complex needs.

Diversitat  - Young Parents Program

Criteria to participate in Diversitat’s young parents program are those who are 21 or under have a child under 2 years old or are currently pregnant and want to re-engage with education.

This is a fully accredited VCAL program incorporating a Certificate 1 in Vocational Preparation with a focus on parenting and life skills.

Fit2Drive Road Safety Programs

Young people are over-represented in road trauma statistics. The state-wide ‘Fit2Drive’ road safety program offers three programs across Years 10 11 and 12; Keys Please Fit2drive Looking After Your Mates.

All these programs aim to reduce the number of young people directly involved in road trauma and are offered to all secondary schools across Geelong.

fOrT

The fOrT stands for fun Opportunities recreation Transend. Located at the old Tourist Information Centre in Stead Park Corio. The fOrT is a youth centre in the northern suburbs of Geelong.

A free activity-based program provides a safe space for young people to relax socialise and interact with other young people in the community.

GASP

The gasp project is working to provide respectful and safe environments which will assist in improving the health and well-being of same sex attracted and sex and gender diverse young people.

Leisure Networks - Healthy Sporting Environments Initiative

This program seeks to improve participation opportunities increase the quality of participation and develop healthy sporting clubs across rural and regional Victoria including decreasing risk taking behaviour and increasing safe environments in sporting clubs.

L2P Mentor Driving Program

L2P is a TAC funded and VicRoads managed program which aims to provide access to driving practice for those learner drivers who may have considerable difficulty in gaining on the road experience unless a community based program is available.

The Better Health Channel (BHC) provides health and medical information that is quality assured reliable up to date easy to understand regularly reviewed and locally relevant.

Bully Stoppers

Bully Stoppers supports parents teachers and principals in working together to make sure schools are safe and supportive places where everyone is empowered to help reduce the incidence of bullying in all Victorian schools.

The Bully Stoppers resources including fact sheets for families children teachers and principals are available free from the DEECD website.

Child Safety Australia

Childrens Safety Australia Inc. is a registered charity and incorporated association whose mission is to maximise the safety and enhance the well-being of children. This site provides safety resources and information for both adults and children/young people.

Early Learning Association Victoria

The Early Learning Association of Australia recently changed it’s name from Kindergarten Parents Victoria.

Early Learning Association Victoria - Starting Out Safely - Early Childhood Road Safety Education

Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) is delighted to be delivering the Starting Out Safely program on behalf of VicRoads. Funded by VicRoads Starting Out Safely is about children parents carers and early childhood educators working together to guide children’s learning in being and becoming safe and independent road users.

VicRoads in collaboration with ELAA and leading early childhood consultants deliver an interactive and practical road safety education session for key early childhood decision makers.

Victorian Safe Communities Network

The Victorian Safe Communities Network (VSCN) was established to give community safety professionals a forum for support and learning. The VSCNs role is to support government business and community to promote safety strategies which aim to minimise the impact of unintentional injury crime violence and emergency situations for all Victorians.

Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is a community based crime prevention program which aims to improve the quality of life within a neighbourhood by minimising preventable crime and promoting closer community ties.

Vic Roads – Primary and Secondary School Programs

VicRoads provides primary and secondary school road safety programs; Kids on the move (Primary) and Traffic Safety Essentials (Secondary).
