Protecting our environment is a key priority of our Sustainability Framework 2020.
We are committed to achieving zero emissions using the planning framework to influence sustainable growth in the built environment increasing green spaces supporting biodiversity and leading our community to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

City slashes carbon emissions
A swag of clever and creative initiatives helped the City reduced carbon emissions across its operations by 30 per cent in the four years to June 2021.

The Community Green Achiever Awards recognise and celebrate community-led action that promotes sustainability, supports biodiversity and protects our environment.
Lakelands' extension works to begin
Construction of an innovative treatment wetland will soon start in the Lara Lakelands Reserve under a City plan to improve biodiversity and stormwater management in the area.
Plan targets net zero emissions by 2035
A municipal-wide target of zero net emissions by 2035 is a key feature of the City’s Draft Climate Change Response Plan.
