Shared pathway charter
We have developed a shared pathway charter to encourage all users to enjoy the experience of using our tracks and trails in a balanced and harmonious manner.

We have a vast array of tracks and trails in various locations which are used by many of our community members on a daily basis. It doesnt matter if you are just going for a leisurely stroll walking the dog or riding a bicycle through some of the open spaces parks and reserves we encourage all users to enjoy the experience in a balanced and harmonious manner.

As you walk along the picturesque Barwon River you will notice new blue and green signs that have been erected along the tracks and trails of the river. This signage is part of our new shared pathways charter.

The Shared Pathways Charter has been designed to promote safe and cooperative behaviour by dogs owners cyclists and pedestrians as shared users of public pathways tracks and trails within the City of Greater Geelong to be achieved through the promotion of the theme Lead the Way - Care Share and Respect:

  • be a caring dog walker
  • be a respectful cyclist
  • share the space
  • be respectful to residents.

Please follow the regulations clean up after your dog share the facility enjoy the beautiful space you are in and show respect to all users. For example:

  • walkers please move to the left to allow others to pass easily.
  • cyclists please ring your bell and slow down when passing others.

The shared pathways charter is designed to be an educative tool and is a complementary overlay to the regulatory signage on our pathways.

Signage installation

Installation of signage has been completed at:

  • Adrian Mannix Reserve – Clifton Springs
  • Ramblers Walk-Point Richards
  • Barwon River - Queens Park to Buckley Falls
  • Ted Wilson Track
  • Waurn Ponds Creek.
