Quarterly expenditure 

A total of $1.5 billion was spent in the City of Greater Geelong in the March 2023 quarter a decrease of 9.5 percent compared to the previous quarter (that includes Christmas spend) yet an increase of 8.4 percent compared to the same quarter in 2022.

  • Visitors to the City of Greater Geelong spent $446.4 million within the City of Greater Geelong a decrease of 4.0 percent compared to the previous quarter yet an annual increase of 10.0 percent.

In addition City of Greater Geelong residents spent $321.8 million outside the City of Greater Geelong in the March 2023 quarter a decrease of 7.3 percent compared to the previous quarter yet an annual increase of 13.6 percent.

City of Greater Geelong residents spent $641.0 million online in the March 2023 quarter a decrease of 8.2 percent compared to the previous quarter yet an annual increase of 7.3 percent.
