Changes to Beauty Procedures
Health and Beauty businesses that change the types of treatments and procedures they offer to their clients must notify us.

During routine inspections carried out annually at health premises our Environmental Health Officers have noticed operational changes in salons which we were not aware of.

We have found hairdressers who have started to provide waxing and salons conducting body piercing without the expertise correct fit out or procedures for such activities.

What you need to do

Before starting any alterations/renovations or changing any processes to your business there are some things to consider such as:

  • Are you currently registered to do that procedure? If you are unsure you can look at your recent registration certificate under the type of licence or call us to discuss.
  • Do you have the structural facilities to allow for the new procedures?
  • Do any proposed structural changes to the building have requirements for a building permit to be issued? (This situation may also require owners consent)
  • Do you have the expertise to provide the procedure?

For any premises where alterations to the layout or treatments/procedures are added you should submit relevant information including any updated floor plans of your premises to our Environmental Health Services Unit for approval prior to works or business change.

If you are not sure if any changes would impact your registration simply contact us and we will assist in any way with advice.

What we will do

We will assess any application and where possible support you in your plans for change.
