Tattooists/Piercers - Client Information Sheets
The Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations require businesses that penetrate the skin to provide written information to all clients about the transmission of infectious diseases associated with the process.
Any procedure that results in the penetration of the skin can increase risks to infection particularly where blood may be drawn.
Illnesses such as hepatitis B and C and HIV/AIDS can be spread by blood-to-blood contact.
The Department of Health has developed client information sheets in regards to Body Piercing Tattooing and Hair Removal that you may wish to provide to your clients as part of these requirements. These sheets also contain information regarding after care advice and operator requirements.
These Information Sheets can be obtained online:
- Tattooing (including cosmetic tattooing)
- Body Piercing
- Oral Piercing
- Hair Removal
