Our region is home to world-class natural areas and a diversity of wildlife.

We have some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Australia - from rugged untouched coastline on the Bellarine, to wildflower infused grassland on the volcanic plain, to majestic open forest in the Brisbane Ranges.

    We manage a number of coastal reserves.

    Land management
    We control pest plants and animals, and reduce the effects of soil erosion, salinity and acid sulphate soils on our environment and conservation reserves.
    Native grasslands and our roadsides
    Native grasslands include local indigenous grass species, as well as mosses, lichens, fungi, native lilies, orchids, daisies and other plants.
    Nature reserves
    We manage a wide variety of nature reserves, covering over 1,400 hectares, that provide habitat for a diversity of native plants, animals and other wildlife.

    You are unable to ride your horse or pony in any of the City of Greater Geelong managed beaches or nature reserves.
    Our Places... Breamlea coast
    The small town of Breamlea is host to spectacular coastline and home to some of Victoria’s most endangered plants and animals.
    Pests
    We are responsible for removing any pest infestations on public land we manage.
    Protect the Barwon Coast
    We are lucky to have access to some of Victoria’s most beautiful beaches at Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and Breamlea.
