Koori Hunter is bollard number 41 of the Baywalk Bollards positioned on the foreshore walking track on Geelong’s waterfront. The bollard is intended to represent the Wadawurrung people of the area depicted by a hunter wearing a possum skin cloak.
Jan Mitchell created the bollard sculptures from 1995–99 with assistant artist John Starr and wood carver Pieter Roos. They are carved from reclaimed red iron bark and turpentine hardwood pier pylons.
There are 104 bollards across 48 sites on the Baywalk Bollard Walk which extends from Limeburners Point to Rippleside Park.
This is site 5 of the NAIDOC Week 2020 online trail.
