Civil Engineering Standard Drawings
We provide our Civil Engineering Standard Drawings to be viewed or downloaded for contractor use.
Design note 3 - Appendix A: Stage-Storage-Discharge Relationship
Custom stage-storage-discharge relationships are required when modelling wetlands at the functional and detailed design stages. Guidance on preparing these is provided below.
Design note 3 - Appendix B: Selection of Rainfall Templates
Two climate regions were identified within the City. A 10 year and a 20 year climate template was prepared for each of these.
Design note 3 - Appendix C - When is a Bioretention Asset Appropriate?
The following tables (Table 9 and Table 10) provide a summary of decision criteria to decide when a bioretention asset may or may not be appropriate for a given site.
Design note 3 - Bioretention
Bioretention assets should be designed in accordance with the fundamental principles and guidance provided in current version of the following documents as amended.
Design note 3 - Climate data
For stormwater treatment modelling using MUSIC, a meteorological data template is required based on rainfall and potential evapotranspiration data.
Design note 3 - Drainage links and routing
In MUSIC, water flows from one point to another through links. From a node, a primary drainage link must first be connected then secondary links can optionally be used to direct selected flows to another destination.
Design note 3 - General guidelines for treatment nodes
See Melbourne Water’s MUSIC Guidelines, Chapter 6.
Design note 3 - Imported data nodes, generic treatment nodes, use of secondary links and exporting results
Please refer to the relevant chapter in Melbourne Water’s MUSIC Guidelines.
Design note 3 - Introduction
This document sets out the preferred approach for MUSIC modelling with the City of Greater Geelong (the City).
Design note 3 - MUSIC Auditor and Wetland Analysis Tool
The MUSIC auditor is a tool that has been developed for checking the parameter inputs to MUSIC models to ensure they comply with relevant guidelines and are within expected or reasonable ranges.
Design note 3 - Permeable pavements, stormwater harvesting and reuse
For permeable pavement information, please see Melbourne Water's MUSIC Guidelines, Chapter 13.
Design note 3 - Source nodes
See Melbourne Water’s MUSIC Guidelines, Chapter 5.
Design note 3 - Submission requirements for MUSIC modelling
Specific submission requirements should be discussed with the City with the following list to be used as a guide.
Design note 3 - Swales, gross pollutant traps and sediment ponds
These requirements are covered in Melbourne Water's MUSIC guidelines.
Design note 3 - Wetlands and Ponds
Refer to Melbourne Water's MUSIC Guidelines - chapter 10 for Wetlands and Chapter 11 for Ponds.

Minor bridges, viewing platforms and boardwalks
Design Note 9 provides guidelines for the design of minor bridges, viewing platforms and boardwalks with the intent to ensure that, for any new structures, long term maintenance costs are minimised.

Note 11 provides guidelines and requirements for the use and installation of
Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs).
Vehicle Crossings Preferred Layout
Note 4 in the Design Notes series covering the preferred vehicle crossing layout, issued in August 2012.
It aims to also expedite our engineering approvals and ensure that minimum design criteria is met in regard to the design and construction of municipal infrastructure regardless of whether it is constructed by us or a developer.
The Civil Engineering (Standard) Drawings that are common to all councils are an attachment to the Infrastructure Design Manual and are available to be viewed on the IDM website.
The Infrastructure Design Manual is a living document and may be revised and amended from time to time.
Additional Civil Engineering Standard Drawings that are specific to the City of Greater Geelong are available.
