  • City Hall has served continuously as the centre of local government in Geelong since its construction in 1855 making it one of the oldest town halls in Australia. We have committed to maintaining a significant presence within the building going forwards which will include civic and ceremonial functions. Additionally options such as the extension of the Geelong Gallery into City Hall are being considered.
  • We will own and maintain the public space within the Civic Precinct.
  • We heard from our community in our first stage of engagement that they wanted active safe inclusive public space accessible in and out of business hours.  Public space within the Civic Precinct is being designed to meet those aspirations.  Hear our expert panel discuss the public space of the precinct at our Geelong Design Week 2021 panel on the Civic Precinct: View the full event recordings
  • The second building on the site is an additional commercial building paid for completely and owned by Quintessential Equity our development partners. It will provide commercial office space for an additional 900 city workers. This will boost the supply of PCA A-Grade office space in central Geelong attracting businesses and employers to the region.
  • Quintessential Equity are working with several interested parties in regard to tenanting their new commercial building in the Civic Precinct.
  • Quintessential Equity was selected through a detailed tender process which began in 2018. 11 tenders were shortlisted down to three in early 2019 and all three submitted submissions which were assessed by expert design and financial panels. A recommendation was then provided to Council who endorsed the selection. The tender process was conducted in accordance with our Procurement Policy. The three submissions were assessed equally in line with the agreed probity and process requirements. The tender was overseen by our probity advisors Pitcher Partners at each step to ensure that all submissions were considered equally.
