Smart parks and gardens
The Internet of Things in agricultural settings can significantly improve efficiency whilst reducing environmental impacts.

We have been trialling smart sensors at the Geelong Botanic Gardens to generate real-time data on soil and plant health.

The in-ground sensors developed by a Geelong based start-up measure soil moisture soil temperature air temperature humidity and light to inform and automate irrigation. The sensors let us know when water has reached a certain depth to avoid wastage of this precious resource.

Local growers and producers are also trialling sensor technology to improve resource efficiency and production including Boundary Road Olives and Leura Park Estate Vineyard.
