Sports grounds maintenance
We are responsible for the maintenance of a diverse range of sports surfaces across our municipality.

Sports grounds range from football and cricket grounds soccer pitches athletic tracks to equestrian venues.

A wide range of maintenance tasks are undertaken to present these surfaces in a condition fit for use including:

  • mowing
  • weed control
  • fertilising
  • pest and disease control
  • topdressing.    

Maintenance is undertaken to provide the community with well maintained sports grounds for your enjoyment.

You can be confident that sports grounds within our parks and reserves are maintained to a safe and high standard.

  • We conduct weekly safety inspections of all sports grounds surfaces.
  • Yes - we maintain operate and manage irrigation systems for approximately 200 hectares of turf sporting surfaces.  These surfaces are used for cricket football soccer softball baseball golf passive open space and range from local to national importance. We attempt to precisely manage our irrigation to ensure that turf surfaces are fit for purpose and the water is used in the most efficient way possible.  Our irrigation control systems are able to monitor and report on water use detect and act on any faults in the field by isolating the faulty line and continuing through it's cycle. This limits water wastage notifies our Irrigation Officer about the particular fault and allows the rest of the system to complete it's cycle. Daily weather data is used to determine the correct amount of irrigation to be applied at each site. Water use for each site is recorded and assessed and a Turf Pogo pro is used to ensure that turf surfaces are kept in the optimal moisture range.
